Women In the Director’s Chair Career Advancement Module - WIDC CAM


An intensive career-building opportunity for up to 4 mid-career women filmmakers per session, this WIDC module focuses on the personal skills and individually tailored strategies needed to achieve career and project success in the film, television and digital media industry. Presented with major support from Telefilm Canada in collaboration with the Female Eye Film Festival. Facilitated by WIDC Producer Carol Whiteman, guest mentors include Marina Cordoni, MCE, Andra Sheffer, Independent Production Fund, Dan Lyon, Telefilm Canada. 


WIDC CAM participants: 


Sibel Guvenc is a Toronto-based filmmaker originally from Turkey. She is developing Moonshot, a sci-fi drama about an injured dancer striving to achieve her artistic dreams.


Meeshelle Neal is a Vancouver-based filmmaker whose award-winning short film Mental screens closing night at this year’s FeFF. She is currently developing Sweet Release, a sci-fi fantasy feature film about death.


Vanessa Shah is a Toronto-based filmmaker who started out as a journalism major at Ryerson. She is developing Lola’s Beauty Bar, a new drama series set in the 50’s.  


Joyce Wong is a Toronto-based filmmaker whose debut feature Wexford Plaza toured festivals, won awards and nominations including a nom from Toronto Film Critics for Best Canadian Feature Film. She is currently developing her second feature, a drama entitled, Phantom Boyfriend.
