TESTIMONIALS

“The FeFF is an ideal platform for worldwide filmmakers to gather, make connections with senior level industry execs and learn about the North American business of production and trade. I look forward to the festival every year, marking it on my calendar as a go-to. And each year, I drum up new business ranging from acquisitions of completed films in the festival, to meeting new screenwriters whom I go on to support. I highly recommend attending this focused, yet universally themed festival.”  – Marina Cordoni, President/Executive Producer, MCE (Marina Cordoni Entertainment)

“Screening "Cathy Coppola" at the Female Eye was truly the highlight of the two years I spent making and completing this film… If you’re a female film director, this is the only festival that matters   “– Stefanie Sparks, FeFF 2014 Filmmaker, Feature Film "Cathy Coppola (New York, NYC, USA)

“It was an absolute thrill to be a part of the Female Eye Film Festival. In an industry that so often neglects the female voice, it is so lovely to have a top-notch festival that celebrates it. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive, and the industry events were incredibly informative and inspiring.” - Jenni Townsend, FeFF 2014 Filmmaker (Australia)

“The 2014 FeFF offered important valuable workshops and panels as well as critical access to films by women filmmakers, stories that are relevant to my peers and me.  I made new contacts with potential collaborators…" – Carol Whiteman, President & CEO, Creative Women Workshops Association (Vancouver, BC)

“I feel so privileged to have been a part of the 2014 FeFF. Leslie Ann and her team did a tremendous job putting together a fantastic selection of films, panels, and script readings. There’s so much care and integrity behind this festival, and I had the opportunity to meet many talented filmmakers and industry professionals that I’m sure will prove to be great contacts in the near future. This is the kind of festival I would want to return to year after year.” – Marjorie Cohen, FeFF 2014 Filmmaker, “My Name is Vivienne”, Winner Best Foreign Feature Award (Los Angeles, CA, USA)

“I love the way Leslie Ann and the FeFF team pulls in the industry in such an inclusive way - so that when we're pitching projects it's more that we're all on board as colleagues.  This is vastly different in tone from the Industry Forum pitch sessions at other festivals.  The difference is not subtle, it is concrete: at Female Eye it feels as if we're sincerely working together, writers, directors, broadcasters, producers, agents, distributors, all towards making doing business together and pulling towards excellent productions.” – Lulu Keating FeFF 2014 Screenwriter/Filmmaker (Dawson City, YT)

“THE FEMALE EYE FILM FESTIVAL is one of the few film festivals to recognize and develop screenwriters alongside directors. Between the live reading, Good To Go program, and the multiple screenwriting awards, we received enough professional feedback in a few short days to really take our script to the next level. Thank you FeFF! I am staying in contact with some of the other writers and filmmakers I met and we intend to follow up with at least one of the producer delegates and one of the agent delegates.”  – Daniela Saioni, co-writer The WBI (Toronto, ON)

Feature Film Director

"The Female Eye Film Festival is a unique experience that celebrates stories by women filmmakers and confirms why they are so important. From my first day at the festival, I encountered a professional community of people dedicated to creating an exciting and diverse showcase for women’s films and photography that audiences could experience and enjoy.  The festival was also an exceptional opportunity to learn from, and network with, industry leaders at the top of their game. The quality of expertise offered through panel discussions, workshops was outstanding and right on target. At networking receptions and other events, I met with industry executives, producers, distributors, agents, writers and directors—all supporters of women making films! The programming was also wonderfully creative and made every screening an inspiring experience. It was such an honour to have my film included. Thank you Leslie Ann Coles for creating this extraordinary festival that is making its mark around the world and to all the staff, programmers and volunteers for making the FeFF one of the highlights of my professional career. – Paula Kelly, FeFF 2014 Filmmaker, “Euphoria”, CEO Journey Films Inc.

Documentary Director

“Festival provided many good opps to meet & discuss business with others at the opening, panels, and post-screening events.”– Edie Steiner, FeFF 2014 Filmmaker (Toronto, ON)

The Directors Panel Discussion was inspirational - all four participants were open and candid and insightful in a way one seldom witnesses.  The awards too have been well-conceived and will, hopefully, help advance our films or scripts."

Script Writers

Lots of leads, and I'll be following up with many people I met.  I appreciate the excellent feedback for my script that will contribute to the next draft, and distribution for my movie. Also met wonderful people who I'll look forward to keeping in touch with.  No specific opportunities yet but within the next few months. – Lulu Keating, FeFF 2014 Filmmaker & Script Development Program, President, Red Snapper Films Ltd.

Being fortunate in having one of my screenplays accepted as an official selection, there were also the opportunities of "Good To Go," and "Pitch Session," along with the Act one reading. Each one allows excellent and constructive feedback and insiders knowledge of the business from industry professionals Gregory Terlecki, FeFF 2014 Script Development Program, “Going Beyond Violet”

The Script Reading program at FEFF is a splendid / successful / generative / productive idea. Everyone benefits: The writers whose scripts are chosen for first reads obviously benefit, with the skillful comments of a seasoned story editor. The listeners/audience, for whatever reasons they are there, as writers themselves, directors, or other members of a media team benefit. The actor/readers improve their cold read skills, gain performance insights, and have fun. What more can be asked? – Rita Shelton Deverell, ACTRA, CAEA, Playwrights Guild

I made new contacts with potential collaborators. I will be following up with Honourary Maverick, Gabrielle Kelly on a new international Women In the Director’s Chair (WIDC) initiative for women filmmakers – Carol Whiteman, President & CEO, Creative Women Workshops Association

It was thrilling to hear Act 1 of the screenplay read out for the very first time and I learned a lot from it – particularly to intersperse it with back-stories and to make it way less speechy. – Steven Prowse, Writer, FeFF 2014 Script Development Program, “The Night Witches”
