DECEMBER 6TH

Since 2006 the FeFF has mentored female youth on the production of their short films which have premiered at the annual festival.  The FeFF has mentored 46 young women to date involving youth at risk from urban and rural communities including 26 aboriginal youth. This program has been funded by the Ontario Arts Council, Arts Education Project. The 5th Edition Young Filmmaker Development Workshop 2015 was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, Artist and Community Collaboration Project. Ten short films produced in 2015 will premiere at the FeFF 2016!

In addition to the annual FeFF, Coles curates film programs for other festivals, and in partnership with other international sister festivals dedicated to the advancement of women directors.

 

In 2014, Coles was selected to be an Official Juror and Guest Film Curator at the 11th KIN International Int. Women's Film Festival in Yerevan, Armenia.  In May 2015, Coles presented a Special Female Eye Program at the 18th Annual Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival in Ankara, Turkey. 

 

In 2015 Coles guest curated a series of documentary films at Doctober a month long documentary film festival in Bellingham, Washington.

 

In 2016, the FeFF continues to expand its outreach at the 12th Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival where Coles curated a Canadian Short Film Program and Documentary Features culled from the FeFF. 

 

 

In 2004, the FeFF produced its first Dec. 6th Program, In Memoriam of The Montreal Massacre featuring films that pertain to global issues of violence against women. FeFF presented its seventh December 6th Program in 2014. Proceeds have been donated to violence against women’s shelters. In March of 2004, FeFF’s Leslie Ann Coles travelled to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City to present films addressing the AIDS Pandemic and it’s Impact on Women and Girls, on International Women’s Day.
