Pitch Coach, Carl Knutson

Carl Knutson is a Toronto screenwriter, story editor, and jack-of-all-genres. He’s written for 14 TV series ranging from drama, comedy, docudrama, documentary, and animation. Carl has written three IMAX features for SK Films -- the most recent, AMAZON ADVENTURE, is currently playing at The Ontario Science Centre. As a story editor, he has specialized in working with writer/director filmmakers, including: Jim Allodi, Kris Lefcoe, Michael DeCarlo, Peter Lynch, and Henry Sarwer-Foner. Carl currently writes coverage on screenplays for both The Harold Greenberg Fund and Telefilm.  Working as a writer/director himself, Carl has sold four, short romantic-comedies to CBC TV and other broadcasters. His screenwriting has appeared on CTV, Discovery, National Geographic, History, Court and Lifetime.

Pitch Coach, Daniella Saioni

DANIELA SAIONI is a comedy writer whose stand-up has been featured on CBC’s Laugh Out Loud to over 1.4 million listeners.  A TIFF PitchTHIS! Finalist in 2012 for The WBI (co-written with Annie Bradley), the script also won Best Reserve Screenplay at the FEFF 2014 and was named Harold Greenberg Fund Top Ten at the 2016 Canadian Film Festival, noted for its “great comedy writing and dialogue”. A WGC member, Daniela is currently writing the high-concept dramedy HAYI, the fourth feature for director Mazdak Taebi. She has been training comedians in the creation of original pilots since 2012 at Comedy Bar, where her live comedy show West End Girls ran for 8 years. In her other life as a veteran script supervisor, she has worked internationally alongside legendary filmmakers including Oscar-worthies Bruce Beresford, Davis Guggenheim and Mimi Leder, and has recently enjoyed crawling around inside the notorious comedy brains of Greg Daniels and Paul Feig.

Writers bring your feature film project to life. You will have six minutes to pitch your feature film idea to a live audience of supportive film fans and a jury of industry delegates and production experts. All genres and styles of presentation are permitted. The most original and compelling story will be awarded a prize of $2500.00.
