Liz Marshall is a Canadian documentary/non-fiction filmmaker based in Toronto. Since the 1990s she has directed and produced independent projects and been part of film and television teams, creating broadcast, theatrical, campaign and cross-platform productions shot around the world. Marshall’s immersive feature length documentaries illuminate social justice and environmental themes through strong characters. She is known for the influential and multi-award-winning THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE (2013) and for WATER ON THE TABLE (2010). Her latest feature, MIDIAN FARM, is about a 1970s Canadian back-to-the-land social experiment she spent formative years at. Liz Marshall is currently directing and producing MEAT THE FUTURE, following the birth of the American “clean” meat food revolution – real meat without animal slaughter.

Tribute to be moderated by Chanda Chevannes

Chanda Chevannes is a Canadian documentary filmmaker, writer, and educator. She makes artful social issues documentaries that amplify women’s voices. Her award-winning films have been broadcast on six continents, been seen by more than four million people, and have inspired tangible legislative and social change. Chanda’s most recent film is UNFRACTURED, a triumphant documentary about the fossil fuel resistance. She is a founding member of the Toronto Chapter of Film Fatales, an international collective of women filmmakers. Chanda lives in Toronto and is the mother of two beloved children, Hannah and Henry.
