Good-to-Go is a vital part of the Script Development program. It gives screenwriters an opportunity to discuss their projects in intimate, one-on-one sessions with a roster of stellar industry guests whose areas of expertise include distribution, casting, financing, production, and literary management, among others. It’s like speed dating, only you’re pitching your passion project.

This year’s participating screenwriters are the 2018 FeFF Script Development participants, the 2018 WIDC-CAM (Toronto) delegates Sibel Guvenc, Meeshelle Neal, Vanessa Shah and Joyce Wong, visiting director/writer Elena Klepatskaya (Russian Federation), 2017 Script Development alumna Sheila Warren, and Judy Steed and Randy Sumeraj, co-writers of an original TV pilot called Rob N’Hood.

Synopsis: Waitress Zoe is a socially inept numbers whiz struggling to understand her autistic son, Jax. Her fraught relationships with her own estranged mother, Marilyn, and with a troubled neuropsychologist, Pete, force Zoe to come to terms with Jax’s autism as well as with her own undiagnosed autism.

BARNABAS IS DEAD

Synopsis: When her boss dies suddenly under mysterious circumstances, Alice is tasked with the peculiar opportunity to keep Barnabas’s hotel open for one more week, to honour a longstanding reservation made by a cult. This grace period grants Alice’s co-workers time to plan life after the hotel and Alice the opportunity to come to terms with Barnabas’s death and to fulfill his last request from beyond the grave: to find his lucky quarter.

 

DAVID CRONENBERG LIVES NEXT DOOR

Synopsis: Premila Kapoor, a young Hindi filmmaker working as a hotel janitor in LA to put herself through film school, finds a discarded screenplay in the hotel’s parking lot one evening. The script was written by a cantankerous hotel guest: once-famous foreign director Donald Wintersong, who is unable to secure studio backing and is an insurance risk due to his advanced age. Dejected, Wintersong returns home to Canada, where he takes up miscellaneous jobs, including pushing a broom, to pay the bills, while Premila and her friends produce his $50M project for a frugal $500.

 

STILL LIFE

Synopsis: Reeling after the death of a long-ago French lover, Helen, a widowed artist from New York, returns to the south of France to make peace with her past. AWAKENING

ROB N’HOOD – original television series

Synopsis: Twenty-something Hood is a brilliant computer hacker who partners with Rob in a restored firehall in Kensington Market. She and her colourful band take on cases for hire, helping people caught in the labyrinth of the deep web with nowhere left to turn.

 

MOVING ON

Synopsis: It’s 1970 and the Davis family is living the idyllic small-town life. But conservative values are pressured by feminism and civil rights, and Anne Davis, mother of four, dreams of a big-city life and career opportunities. The closest she comes to moving up the banking ladder is training the VP’s womanizing son. Her legally blind husband, Hugh, also has a dream: to become mayor. Despite their differences, they are the social darlings of Wells. Two tragic events derail everything.

Synopsis: Sisters Vicky and Julia have always been best friends. They become estranged when the oldest, Vicky, marries Military Academy graduate Alex. When Vicky becomes pregnant, Alex makes a play for Julia.
