What It Feels Like, directed by Kelly Hargraves. Invoking generations of embodied experiences, …what it feels like gives texture to the trappings of female gender—its material expressions, as well as its silences and solitudes. Assises, directed by Mélanie Pilon. Having lost the use of her legs, a dancer confronts her new reality. Dollface, directed by Kirsten Johnson. A woman wakes up covered in toys. Is she hungover? Depressed? Can she get up? Live action and stop-motion animation fuse together in this mad ride exploring self-doubt, delusion, misplaced inner voices and embroidery floss. (WP, Animation/ Drama, 4 min. 53 sec. Toronto, ON, Canadian)

Dissecting Gwen, directed by Katherine Barrell. After the anxiety of taking a home pregnancy test causes Gwen to faint on her bathroom floor, she is able to have a discussion with the personified voices in her head: Romantic, Rebel, Analytic, and Fear – each unabashedly offering their opinions on what her future should look like. (CP, 2016, Drama, 10 min. 28 sec., Burlington, Ontario, Canada)

Real Artists, directed by Cameo Wood. Based on Ken Liu’s short story of the same name, Real Artists is a dark tale set in the near future. Sophia just scored every animator’s dream interview at the world-famous Semaphore Animation Studios, but when the creative director, Anne Palladon, reveals that she knows about Sophia’s fan-edit of Semaphore’s hit film Mythos, Sophia sees her dreams begin to slip away. (CP, 2016, Drama, 12 min., San Francisco, CA, USA)

An Autobiography, directed by Mari Mantela. Two days before her retirement, Anja makes a decision: she will not leave her job in a rental-cars parking hall deep under the ground, a place where she has worked for 45 years like a queen bee nursing cars and the mechanics around her. But when the man upstairs sends a young trainee ready to replace her, Anja is forced to face facts: her life as she knows it is coming to an end. Could there be a second life for a hard-working woman? (CP, 2016, Drama, 19 min., Helsinki, Finland)

Total run time: 85 min. Audience Q & A with filmmakers. Hosted by Rebeka Budrys.
