Day, directed by Edie Pijpers. This animated short speaks of the beauty, depth, magic, and truth that are to be found in the banality and repetition of life. Status Quo, directed by Marie-Rose Osta. In the midst of a boiling Middle East, while the Lebanese borders are under constant attack by terrorists, a Beiruti couple is battling their midnight anxiety. They’re not able to sleep, and a range of troubled emotions erupt to the surface. They fight. Painting in Nature, directed by Mary Sheridan. Set in Wilno Hills, near eastern Ontario’s Algonquin Park, this cinematic poem about our perception of beauty found in nature features the Wild Women wilderness artists. (2015, Experimental, 9 min., Eastern Highlands, ON, Canada)

Come to the Edge, directed by Sophie Dia Pegrum. Come to the Edge brings together art and science in an experimental synthesis of music, audio, and archival footage celebrating our unique human quest to find our place amongst the stars. Schizophrenia, directed by Yuri Muraoka. A director’s self-portrait of her seventh year of treatment for schizophrenia. “An obsession by the name of ‘odd-numbers’ torments me in daily life” (Chapter 1, “The odd numbers”). “A death sentence was being pronounced. With the sound of the scaffold coming down, the fear of self-destruction that ‘the reality’ collapses into pieces from my foot” (Chapter 2, “Transparent, I am”).
